The School Education Department, Government of the Punjab, has issued an official notification regarding appreciation of Head Teachers, teachers and students who secured 60% and above results in the 9th Class BISE Examination 2026. The department has also directed the initiation of disciplinary proceedings against Head Teachers and teachers associated with schools and subjects recording less than 20% results.

Appreciation for 60% and Above Results

The School Education Department has decided to appreciate the Head Teachers, teachers and students of Government High and Higher Secondary Schools who achieved 60% or above results in the 9th Class BISE Examination 2026.

All Chief Executive Officers (DEAs) in Punjab have been directed to hold district-level appreciation events and invite parliamentarians, district administration, local notables, philanthropists, alumni and educationists. Best-performing Head Teachers, teachers and students may be awarded merit badges and appreciation certificates or letters in recognition of their achievement.

Awards and Recognition Criteria

Sr. No. Result Shown Awards
1 60% to 79% Recognition certificates for satisfactory performance to the Head Teacher, teachers and students. Hopefully, they will improve their results next year.
2 80% and above Special badges and appreciation certificates for Head Teachers, teachers and students.

Disciplinary Proceedings for Poor Results

The department has also taken serious notice of poor performance by certain schools in the Class 9 Board Examinations, particularly schools where the pass percentage has remained below 20%.

According to the notification, such results reflect a grave lapse in academic supervision and teaching standards. The concerned Heads of Schools and subject teachers cannot be absolved of their responsibility in this regard.

The Chief Executive Officers (DEAs) shall therefore ensure initiation of disciplinary proceedings under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act, 2006 against:

  1. Head Teachers whose schools achieved less than 20% overall results in the 9th Class BISE Examination 2026.
  2. Teachers whose students achieved less than 20% results in the relevant subject or subjects assigned to them.

Determination of Responsibility

Responsibility shall be determined from the approved school timetable, subject-wise result and other relevant official records.

Where a subject was taught jointly by two or more teachers, the concerned CEO (DEA) shall determine individual responsibility.

Proceedings Against Teachers

Proceedings against teachers up to BS-16 shall be initiated within the district by the competent authorities under the applicable rules.

Cases of Head Teachers and teachers in BS-17 and above shall be referred, with complete record and specific recommendations, to the School Education Department, Government of the Punjab, for action by the competent authority.

The competent authority, as determined under the applicable rules, shall take strict legal action under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act, 2006 against Head Teachers and teachers held responsible for poor results.

Monitoring and Implementation Reports

Each CEO (DEA) shall submit a fortnightly implementation report to the Director Public Instruction (SE), Punjab.

The Director Public Instruction (SE), Punjab shall present consolidated progress on the disciplinary proceedings to the Secretary, School Education Department. The matter shall be accorded Top Priority.
