The Federal Government of Pakistan has officially announced the public holidays for Ashura 2026. According to a fresh directive issued by the Cabinet Secretariat, Cabinet Division, citizens will observe general holidays across the country on account of 9th and 10th Moharram 1448 A.H.
The designated dates for the 9th and 10th Moharram public holidays are June 25 and June 26, 2026 (Thursday and Friday). This rule applies universally to all public and private offices operating on both 5-day and 6-day working schedules.
Breakdown of Ashura 2026 Holiday Schedule
For government departments and offices observing a 5-day work week, the upcoming holiday break will create an extended 4-day weekend:

“In continuation of the circular issued on January 19, 2026, regarding regular and optional holiday schedules, the Prime Minister of Pakistan has authorized public holidays for the 9th and 10th of Muharram. These closures are active for all public sector institutions, irrespective of whether they follow a five-day or six-day working week.”
